FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Custom Lifting Solutions FAQs

Answers to common questions about bespoke lifting equipment, design, testing and certification.

What is a custom lifting solution?

A custom lifting solution is lifting equipment specifically designed around the load, lift points, rigging arrangement and project requirements. Unlike standard lifting equipment, bespoke solutions are engineered to suit the application rather than requiring the lift to adapt to a fixed product.

When is bespoke lifting equipment required?

Bespoke lifting equipment is often required when loads have unusual dimensions, offset centres of gravity, restricted lifting points, limited headroom or project-specific connection requirements that cannot be accommodated by standard lifting equipment.

What information do you need to provide a quotation?

Typical information includes load weight, dimensions, centre of gravity, lifting point locations, available headroom, crane arrangement, site conditions and any project-specific requirements or standards that must be met.

Can Multisec design lifting equipment for offset centres of gravity?

Yes. Many bespoke lifting solutions are designed specifically to manage loads with offset or changing centres of gravity. Our engineers can develop lifting arrangements that improve load control and stability throughout the lift.

Can lifting equipment be proof load tested?

Yes. Where required, lifting equipment can be proof load tested prior to delivery. Testing can be carried out at Britannia Test House, one of the UK's most established heavy lifting and load testing facilities.

What standards can custom lifting equipment be designed to?

Depending on the application, equipment can be designed in accordance with relevant standards including BS EN 13155, Eurocode 3 and DNV requirements where applicable to the project.

Do you supply certification and documentation?

Yes. Equipment can be supplied with certification, proof load test records, calculations, drawings and supporting technical documentation as required by the project.

What industries use custom lifting solutions?

Multisec lifting solutions are used throughout offshore energy, renewables, modular construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, marine and heavy engineering projects worldwide.
