50 Tonne Modular Spreader Beam
DNV Type Approved | Multi-50 | UK Manufactured
- IN STOCK & Ready to ship worldwide

A 50 tonne modular spreader beam is a below-the-hook lifting device designed to safely distribute loads using adjustable spans and controlled sling angles.
The Multisec Multi-50 modular spreader beam is designed for controlled heavy lifting operations, with a maximum vertical load of 50 tonnes at a standard maximum span of 9.75 metres.
The system can be configured from 1.0 metre to 12.0 metres using interchangeable modular components, with reduced capacity at longer spans. Top sling STV must not exceed 45°, lower slings must not exceed 6° from vertical, and loads must only be applied through the drop links.

STV (Sling to Vertical Angle)
The angle between the sling and vertical. This affects the working load limit and must be considered before lifting.
Typical Rigging Setup
Key rigging components for a standard Multi-50 spreader beam configuration.
- Top slings (2-leg): sized to suit working load and sling angle
- Master link / crane hook connection: matched to lifting arrangement
- Top shackle: 35 tonne standard bow shackle
- Bottom shackles: 25 tonne standard bow shackles
- Drop links: integrated into the beam for load connection
All rigging components must be correctly rated for the lift and used in accordance with the lift plan and certified documentation.

Multi-50 Spreader Beam FAQs
Answers to common questions about capacity, configuration, rigging and safe use of the Multi-50.
What is the maximum capacity of the Multi-50 spreader beam?
The Multi-50 has a maximum vertical working load of 50 tonnes. Capacity varies depending on span and sling angle, so the final configuration must always be checked against certified load data.
What span range is available on the Multi-50?
The Multi-50 can be configured from 1.0 metres up to 12.0 metres using interchangeable modular sections. Longer spans are available at reduced capacities.
What is the maximum span at full 50 tonne capacity?
The Multi-50 achieves its full 50 tonne capacity up to a standard maximum span of 9.75 metres. Beyond this, the working load limit reduces depending on span and sling angle.
How does sling angle affect capacity?
As the sling angle increases away from vertical, the effective working load limit decreases. Lower sling angles generally allow higher lifting capacities for the same span.
What rigging is typically used with the Multi-50?
A typical setup includes two-leg top slings, a master link or crane hook connection, a 35 tonne top shackle, and 25 tonne bottom shackles connected via drop links. Final rigging must always be verified against the lift plan.
What are the sling angle limits for the Multi-50?
The top sling must not exceed 45° sling-to-vertical (STV). Lower slings must not exceed 6° from vertical during operation.
Can loads be hung from the struts?
No. The Multi-50 is a spreader beam and must only be loaded at the two end lifting points through the drop links. Loads must never be applied to the struts.
Is the Multi-50 DNV Type Approved?
Yes. The Multi-50 is part of a DNV Type Approved modular spreader beam system designed for demanding lifting operations.
Can you help with lift planning and beam selection?
Yes. Our engineering team can assist with beam configuration, rigging guidance and selecting the correct lifting solution for your application.
