Multisec Purchasing Guidance
Equipment Documentation
What to check when specifying lifting equipment documentation, including identification, approved configuration data, testing records and certification scope.
By Multisec · Purchasing and engineering guidance

Agree the documentation scope when requesting a quotation. Check that equipment identification, instructions, approved load data and any specified certificates match the supplied system.
Agree The Documentation Scope
State your client and project documentation requirements when requesting a quotation. The documents needed depend on the equipment, intended use, configuration and agreed certification route.
A certificate should be read with its scope, limitations and the identification of the equipment it covers. A headline statement such as DNV certified does not explain all of those details.
What To Ask For
| Document or record | What to check |
|---|---|
| Equipment identification | Model, serial number and configuration references agree with the supplied equipment. |
| Operating instructions | Assembly, use, inspection and maintenance instructions apply to the supplied system. |
| Capacity information | The load chart or approved data covers the intended span, sling angle and arrangement. |
| Drawings | The drawing revision and dimensions correspond to the agreed equipment. |
| Test records | Any specified proof load test record identifies the equipment and test scope. |
| Certification | The certificate or declaration supplied matches the agreed scope and equipment. |
Type Approval And Project Certification
The Multisec Multi-13 to Multi-250 modular spreader beam range holds DNV Type Approval to DNV-ST-0378. That is a defined product-range approval, not a statement that every Multisec product has the same certification.
For a bespoke lifting beam, frame or other engineered system, agree the applicable certification and documentation during the project review. Ask for the relevant certificate and check its scope rather than relying on a logo alone.
Keep Configuration And Records Together
Keep the supplied instructions, approved configuration data and equipment records accessible to the people planning and carrying out the lift. If the proposed arrangement changes, confirm the applicable data before use.
This is a purchasing checklist. It does not replace the equipment instructions, competent lift planning or project-specific engineering review.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
Does DNV Type Approval cover every Multisec product?
No. The Multi-13 to Multi-250 modular spreader beam range holds DNV Type Approval. Certification for other equipment must be confirmed for the specific product or project.
Can I use one load chart for any configuration?
No. Use the approved data for the relevant model, span, sling angle and arrangement. Refer an unlisted configuration for technical review.
