Multisec Launches One of the World’s Largest C-Hooks for Offshore Wind
We are proud to announce the launch of one of the largest C-Hooks ever produced, designed and manufactured by MultiSec here in Middlesbrough, UK. Developed in collaboration with our trusted partner Durham Lifting, this innovation has been engineered to handle some of the biggest offshore wind monopile sections (cans and cones) in the world.
Our new C-Hook is capable of lifting monopile sections measuring up to 4.2 metres in length, 15.5 metres in diameter, and weighing up to 125 tonnes. This bespoke solution will be supplied to SeAH Wind, a leading manufacturer in the global offshore wind sector.
A New Era of Offshore Lifting Design
Traditional C-Hooks only allow for single-direction tilt adjustment. Our design takes a step forward by incorporating a dual gantry crane system with motorised counterweights built into the hook itself. These counterweights can travel to either side of the lifting point, giving the C-Hook the ability to rotate both clockwise and counterclockwise.
This means the same hook can be used across a range of monopile cans and cones of varying sizes and centres of gravity, offering maximum versatility and safety.
In addition, we have designed the mechanical load path so that primary loads do not transfer through welds, ensuring greater strength and reliability for heavy lifting operations.
Celebrating Teesside Manufacturing
The scale and strength of our new C-Hook reflect our ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of lifting technology. We were also delighted to welcome Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke to our premises, where he viewed the hook first-hand. His visit highlighted not only this achievement but also the strength of Teesside’s engineering and manufacturing sector in supporting renewable energy projects.
Supporting the Energy Transition
As the global demand for offshore wind infrastructure grows, so too does the need for safe, innovative, and flexible heavy lifting solutions. At MultiSec, we are proud to play our part in enabling the energy transition by delivering advanced lifting equipment that meets the challenges of today’s most complex projects.
With collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence, we continue to design solutions that support a sustainable future – one lift at a time.
